Warren Franklin 'Frank' Morledge

Warren Franklin 'Frank' Morledge, age 75, of Forrest City, died Saturday, June 10, 2023, after a brief illness. He passed away at his home in Forrest City surrounded by his family. Frank was born September 4, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee, and was the son of George Morledge and Betty Claire Morledge. He grew up on his family's farm near Newcastle, Arkansas. The memories from his childhood, and the farm itself, remained near and dear to him throughout his life. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where he was one of the first Lay Eucharistic Ministers to serve the parish. Frank graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1972. He was a skilled attorney, had a great mind for business, and was a trusted friend to many. He was extraordinarily gifted in the courtroom. He was also well dressed as all get-out, and could trim a hedge straighter than an arrow. He served as president of the Forrest City Chamber of Commerce and the St. Francis County United Way. He was counsel to East Arkansas Community College and was a member of the Arkansas State Board of Law Examiners, where he was chairman from 1993-1994. In 1990 he was appointed by the Governor to sit as Special Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court; since 1996 he served on the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission, where he was chairman from 2017 until the time of his death. When he was sixteen, he began dating Pam Edgar, who became the love of his life. They married in 1965, and she survives him along with three sons; Warren Franklin Morledge Jr., Matthew Edgar Morledge, and John David Morledge, and wife, Rachael, two grandchildren; Isabella Jane Morledge and Harrison Edgar Morledge, one sister, Kathryn Meredith, and three brothers; George B. Morledge III, Michael Morledge, and Christopher Morledge. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Craig Morledge. Services for Mr. Morledge will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 19, 2023. Burial will be in Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City.
