Mr. Steve Douglas Dillard

Steve Douglas Dillard, 55, passed away on April 8th, 2016 in his home surrounded by his close friends and family, after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. Steve is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kim Clark Dillard; one son, Clark Douglas Dillard, and daughter in law, Carly Caldwell Dillard; one daughter, Kathryn Lindsey Dillard and her fiancé Trey Pruiett. Steve’s mother is Virginia Vines Dillard of Rosston and he was preceded in death by his father Joe Douglas Dillard, as well as his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Collis M. Dillard and Mr. and Mrs. James T. Vines. He has one sister, Sherry Dillard, of Rosston. He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother and father in law, Mr. and Mrs. John P. Clark; two sisters in law, Gina (Tony) Clegg of Colt, Jan (Michael) Perkins of Little Rock. He has six nephews: Preston (Rebecca) Clegg of Little Rock, Dustin (Beth) Clegg of Wynne, Ryan and Riley Perkins of Little Rock, Joseph Hood and Jake Mealer of Rosston. He has three great nieces, Laynie and Selah Clegg, and London Hood; and three great nephews, Jud, Paxton, and Truett Clegg and a host of friends. Steve was born on February 13th, 1961. His parents noticed at an early age his love and giftedness for music. At the age of nine he played the piano at a wedding for the first time. He composed songs and played for his youth choir at Garrett Memorial Baptist Church in Hope, AR. He graduated in 1979 from Bodcaw High School. Shortly after graduation, he was chosen to travel internationally with musicians from across the United States called The Continental Singers. He traveled with them throughout Europe. While in college, Steve wrote and arranged a musical called “Abandoned to His Love” that was performed by a three hundred-voice choir in Dallas, TX. In 1984, he received his BS in church music and a minor in Christian Education from Central Baptist College in Conway, AR. He served on staff at three churches as a worship pastor; Wakefield Baptist Church in Little Rock, Calvary Baptist Church in Morrilton, and Park Place Baptist Church in Bryant. During his tenure in ministry, he wrote numerous choruses and composed many songs. Steve was a member at Wynne Baptist Church. His love for his Lord, his family, his church, and his music leaves a rich legacy that will be remembered in the lives of people that he has impacted for eternity. The visitation will be at Stevens Funeral Home in Forrest City, on Monday April 11th, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm. The service will be held at Wynne Baptist Church on April 12th, 2016 at 2 pm with the burial to follow at Lindsey Cemetery in Caldwell.
