Harry McFarland

Mr. Harry McFarland went to be with Jesus on September 22, 2023, in the comfort of his home while his wife Barbara was in the kitchen. Harry would say, "I snuck out when she wasn't looking". Harry was born on May 15, 1942, in Vanndale, Arkansas, to Lonnie and Earline (Cook) McFarland. Although he spent some years working for GM in Michigan and cross-country truck driving, Harry was a farmer. His most satisfying years were spent farming rice and soybeans. He owned and managed a duck club for more than 30 years and formed lasting friendships with the fine, godly men in his club. Harry acknowledged Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on January 6, 2022. He loved to tell the story of his baptism, which took place on February 9, 2022, at home in his bathtub. Harry forgot many things, but he never forgot that he belonged to Jesus and that Heaven was his eternal destiny. He was a member of Wynne Baptist Church. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew, Perry McFarland, and his son, Todd McFarland. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Rich Kelly of New Jersey, son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Maggie McFarland of Vanndale, grandsons, Hayden Anderson and wife Jessica of Sheldon, Missouri, and Sgt. Hugh Kelly and wife Morgan of Columbus, Georgia, one granddaughter, Nina McFarland, brother, Johnny McFarland and wife Tokonia of Wynne. Three great-grandsons and many extended family members, including loving sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Brian Rudd also survive. Harry was blessed to have many special friends and neighbors who loved him, including Faye Lamastus and her sons, Keith Lawrence, Steve Reynolds, Hugh Francis, Robert Frazee, Brett Carwell, Pastor James and Marci Langston, and Bo and Linda Crumley. If he were here, he would also want to give a “thumbs up” to many kind people who checked on him and looked out for him, including (but not limited to) Walmart team members Winston, Andy, Diane, Karen, Kara, Kim, Katanya, Ophelia, Rosemary, and Bettie; Gary and Jesse at the FSA Co-op; and Shirley at Caldwell Lumber. We are thankful for new friends, including nurse Darlene, Natalie, and Ann, who provided him and his family with loving and skilled care. Visitation will be held at Kernodle Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 12:30 until 1:30 PM. Graveside services will follow at Crosslawn Cemetery, 2 PM with Rev.
