Cooper J. Hill

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Cooper J. Hill, age 15, of Moro, Arkansas, who died June 20, 2025, in a heartbreaking accident on his family’s farm. Born August 17, 2009, Cooper was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, and friend whose warm heart, bright smile, and charismatic spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Though his time with us was far too short, his impact will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire community. Cooper had a deep love for country music, singing along to his favorite songs while riding on the farm or in the truck with his family. He owned every dance floor he ever stepped on. A master videographer, Cooper found so much joy videoing those he loved, along with himself. He was a passionate athlete who found so much joy on the basketball court, proudly wearing the jersey of the Lee Academy Cougars, a team and school that loved him with unwavering devotion. He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Tanya; his sister, Caitlynn, and her husband, Collin; his nephew, Henson; his maternal grandmother, Pat Gillenwater; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry his memory with them forever. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Billy and Cil Hill; maternal grandfather, Walter Gillenwater; and his uncle, Bubba Hill. Visitation will be Monday, June 23, at Lee Academy from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A celebration of Cooper’s life will be held Tuesday, June 24, at 10:00 a.m. at Lee Academy in Marianna, Arkansas. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery in Moro. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Cooper to join in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cooper J. Hill Family Endowment with the Community Foundation of Lee County. Pallbearers will be Scott Kellar, Damon Jones, Dale Herndon, Christopher Whitehead, Beau Briggs, Douglas Gore, Rusty Crump, Butch Turner, Brad Helton and Cody Flowers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cooper’s beloved Lee Academy basketball team and coaches. Mitch Smith and Joseph Parson will officiate. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
