Annie Sue Latham (Gates) age 96, of Forrest City, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones, Friday, February 28, 2025 Annie Sue was born July 28, 1928, in McCrory, Arkansas, and was the daughter of Galey Gates and Bessie Johnson Gates. She lived a life full of love, strength and unwavering kindness. She never met a stranger, and her presence could light up any room. Tough as nails with a heart of gold, she was fiercely loyal to those she loved and always stood strong in the face of adversity. Her quick wit, generous spirit, and unbreakable determination made her a pillar of strength for her family and friends. She poured her heart into bettering the lives of others, always ready to lend a hand, offer wisdom, or share a warm embrace. To know her was to be inspired by her resilience and the depth of her love. Annie Sue was a hardworking and dedicated professional who made a lasting impact in every role she held. She began her career at Lerner Slone as a floor supervisor before moving on to Faupel’s, where she spent many years as a supervisor. Later, she joined the County Extension Office as a nutritionist-a role she embraced and excelled in until her retirement. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her work, as she continuously sought to educate and uplift those in her community. Annie Sue married Clayton Latham, and he preceded her in death in 2007. She is survived by two devoted daughters; Linda (John) Killion and Ladonna (Randy) Hurd, as well as her beloved grandchildren; Jeff Killion, Jason Killion, Tim Latham, Spence Latham, Jimmy Latham, Joshua Hurd, and Misti Hurd, ten great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren – with two more expected this summer- all of whom were blessed by her love and wisdom, and one sister, Dorothy Meadows. She was preceded in death by two sons; Danny Latham and Clark Latham, and two brothers; James Gates and Clayton Gates. Services for Mrs. Latham will be held at the Beck Spur Baptist Church, 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening, 5:00 till 7:00 P.M., at the church. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
