Mrs. Meri Edith Ellis age 75, most recently of Bastrop, Louisiana, a former resident of Sheridan and Forrest City, Arkansas passed away on January 25, 2022.  She was the second child born to the former Dorothy Wilson and Meredith Wilson on August 10, 1946 in Forrest City, Arkansas. Meri Edith is survived by her two siblings; a sister, Faye Carol Kelly (Larry Kelly) and a brother James Eldon Wilson (Ruth Wilson). Meri Edith married Billy Joe Ellis in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 2010. She is survived by two children (spouses), four grandchildren and one great grandchild; a daughter, Donna Ellis Culpepper (Landon Culpepper) of Crossett, Arkansas; a son, Mark Ellis (Nancy Ellis) of Cabot, Arkansas; grandchildren, Christian Culpepper Gilbert (Colby Gilbert) of Camden, Arkansas, Clayton and Nathan Ellis of Conway, Arkansas, and Lindsey Ellis of Cabot, Arkansas, and one great grandchild, Lucas Gilbert. She was a beloved mother and grandmother to her family. She was also an admired cook and loved to share friendship, apple and banana breads. Additionally,  she was a long time member of Sheridan’s United Methodist Church, where she loved to hear her favorite song, “Amazing Grace”. Services for Mrs. Ellis will be held Graveside, 2:00 P.M., Friday, at the Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
