James Allison 'Al' Thomas
August 6, 1939 - January 8, 2019
Mr. James Allison 'Al' Thomas, age 79, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. His death came after a surprising and brief battle with lung cancer. Mr. Thomas was born August 6, 1939, in Memphis, and was the son of Henry Thomas from South Carolina and Christine Sulcer Thomas from Palestine. Al never married but lived with his parents all of his life, until their passing. Because of several health issues, Al was never able to secure a job or fit into the business world. However, he saw a need which he filled by driving people to Memphis and other locations for doctor appointments, weddings, and shopping trips. He enjoyed providing this service and had made may friends during this time and had many repeat customers. Al is survived by a brother, Henry Thomas Jr. and a nephew Glenn Thomas, both of Dallas, and several friends that he had met during the years. A memorial service will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 2:00 P.M., Thursday. Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 P.M., until the time of the service. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. You may log on to stevensfuneralhome.net for the online registry.
