    Mr. James Hall Hargraves

    November 10, 1948 - February 4, 2021

James Hall Hargraves –devoted to family, mentor to many and friend to all – passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock. Jim was the son of the late Judge O.H. Hargraves and Jean Foster Hargraves and brother of the late Robert Snow (Bobby) Hargraves. He was a devoted husband to Susan, adoring father to daughters Hayley and Caitlin (Stephanie), son Harrison (Allison) and grandson Foster. He is also survived by his loving sisters Ruth (Chi Chi) Hargraves of Washington, DC and Rosemary Cianciolo of Memphis, sister-in-law Joanie Hargraves of Hot Springs and brother-in-law Michael Cianciolo of Memphis. Jim was a beloved uncle to Lucas Hargraves (Megan), Mark Cianciolo (Tami), Jacob Hargraves (Avra) and his niece Carley Cianciolo Kirby (Matt). Jim was a lifelong resident of Forrest City and served as Executive Vice President of First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas. He was an active member of the community, a proud graduate of Forrest City High School and the University of Arkansas. Jim’s family has fond memories of the holiday season where they gathered around to watch Jim’s favorite film, It’s a Wonderful Life. One of Clarence’s quotes from the movie was “Strange isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”. Jim’s last words were how much he loved his wife and children and that he indeed had a wonderful life! Jim was a kind, gentle being. His life was a testament of how to care for others. We will forever miss him but always cherish the time we spent together. A small graveside service will be held 2PM Wednesday, February 10 at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City, AR. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when gatherings are safe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Jim’s name be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Forrest City or to a charity of your choice.
